Targeted Therapy
“Targeted Therapy”, a precise medication that stops cancer by targeting its root
Targeted Therapy is a medication for cancer that has been developed to be exceptionally precise. Meaning, it specifically targets cells that have a mutated receptor or targets the receptor that has the primary mechanism of developing cancer. This leads to obtaining a good result of the treatment and a positive response to medications. More importantly, “targeted therapy has fewer side effects compared to receiving chemotherapy.”
“Targeted Therapy” may be used as a single treatment on its own or could be applied in conjunction with other kinds of medication, depending on the type of cancer.
Numerous types of cancer can be treated with targeted therapy, such as:
- Lung Cancer
- Liver Cancer
- Kidney Cancer
- Lymphoma
- Breast Cancer
- Ovarian Cancer
- Head and Neck Cancer
- Colorectal Cancer
Nevertheless, to gain a maximum effect of targeted therapy in cancer treatment, the location of cancer, the stage, the type of protein, and the type of cancer cell need to be taken into consideration. To have the most effective result and to enhance the chance of a complete cure for cancer, it is advised to go for a medical consultation to be examined and consider the use of targeted therapy for a proper plan of treatment.
