“Cancer” is the most common cause of death in Thailand. You may have heard some kinds of cancer, like liver cancer, lung cancer, or colon cancer, but there are still several rare cancer that you may not have heard about. Let’s find out which organs or parts of the body can have cancer.

Lung cancer is caused by the uncontrolled lung cells production that eventually form a cancerous tumor in the lung which will decrease the lung’s function. The severity of lung cancer can be divided into 2 main types depending on its severity such as:

According to the latest global cancer data from WHO, cancer has increased to 19.3 million new cases, and 10 million cancer deaths in 2020. Cancer can spread from the affected organ to the nearby organs or other organs through the blood circulation system and lymphatic system depending on the origin location and the type of cancer cells. 

A definite cause of Nasopharyngeal cancer has not been discovered. Nevertheless, it is believed that there are various contributing factors to the disease.

Lymphoma is one of the severe diseases that lies very close to us. Lymph nodes are present everywhere in our body, e.g., neck, under arms, inner elbow, inner knee, chest, and abdomen. More importantly, lymph cells or lymphocytes are living in other organs throughout the body, whether it be colon or stomach. Lymphoma can therefore occur in any parts of our body.

“Lung cancer” is considered as one of the most detected cancers that have taken plenty of people’s lives in Thailand. This is because the first stage of lung cancer is often asymptomatic. By the time the symptoms show through, the cancer progresses to the later stage. Doctors therefore, recommend those who are at risk of developing lung cancer to undergo screening tests with Low Dose CT scan.  

Immunotherapy is a type of cancer treatment that relies on the function of the patient’s immune system. Typically, the immune system keeps monitoring and destroying all of the foreign substances, such as germs or cancer cells. However, it cannot detect cancer cells sometimes. Immunotherapy helps boost the effectiveness of the immune system to detect and fight against the cancer. 

Brain cancer is detected when a cancerous or malignant tumor is found in the brain. The tumor may form in the brain itself or when cancer cells in other parts of the body spread to the brain.
